Workplace internships for MCom and MIB international students
International students can take a supervised workplace internship for credit toward their MCom or MIB degree. Students will spend 160 hours during a semester working on a project in a business organisation under the guidance of a workplace mentor and an academic supervisor. Students will gain experience of Australian workplace culture and environment while being involved in a range of activities such as research, planning, marketing and organisation within the context of a specific project. Students will be individually placed with suitable companies and the type of project will vary.
Placement is through Macquarie International. Academic assessment is organised through the Graduate Accounting and Commerce Centre. The number of workplace internships available each semester is limited and selection of suitable candidates will be competitive. Students will need a minimum MCom/MIB GPA of 3.00 and good written English. Students who satisfactorily complete the project will receive a pass in the unit BUS880 Business Internship and four credit points toward their postgraduate degree.

Short study programs at an overseas university for MIB and MCom credit
Students in the MIB and MCom program are able to take a short program of study at an overseas university for credit toward their Macquarie degree.
Offshore programs of 4-6 weeks available at partner universities in Europe, USA, Mexico and China. These programs are conducted during the January-February and June-July semester break periods. While the program will be short in duration it will be academically intensive and equal to the work load found in a standard postgraduate unit.
Students in the MCom or MIB can take one of the short off-shore programs for credit toward their degree equal to one unit (4 credit points). Students taking one of the off-shore programs during a semester break will enrol in BUS870 International Study Experience (4 cp).
All classes will be taught in English. The programs will include site visits to places relevant to the study program. There will be time for some cultural activities as well.
The cost is kept as low as possible and Macquarie provides a travel grant for all students accepted into a study abroad course.
Go to International Study Opportunities for information about off-shore programs of study for MCom and MIB credit.
