Hello Postgraduate Student
There is no doubt that students with strong English language skills have an advantage in their degree program. With so much of your work conveyed to others, including your lecturers, through written communications, skills and confidence in English can make a significant difference to grades achieved. Also, there is an accepted style in communicating within a university setting and, unfortunately, many students find out too late what is expected.
With this in mind, we have arranged with the Centre for Macquarie English (formerly NCELTR) to provide some voluntary and free English language support workshops for our MCom and MIB students. These workshops will cover academic writing style, grammar, sentence and paragraph construction, summarizing and paraphrasing, report writing and referencing. There will be a workshop held each week for four weeks commencing in week 2 of second semester.
Please consider this invitation. Improving your English language skills is a positive step toward achieving higher academic grades, and of lasting benefit for career purposes.
